Welcome to the Eastern Area Intensive Care Group WebSite. The EAICG was set up in 1993 to provide a forum for education and information sharing amongst consultants and trainees working in intensive care in the East Anglian region. More recently it has expanded to include all the hospitals that now make up the Eastern region in the UK. It has changed from the 'East Anglian Intensive Care Group' to the Eastern area Intensive Care Group in recognition of its altered boundaries. The EAICG holds meetings every six months with
presentations on a wide variety of subjects from both regional and national
experts. These meetings are accompanied by a lively exchange of views
both during the sessions and in the bar afterwards! In 1998 the EAICG set up a research committee in order to encourage collaborative research in the region, particularly in the district hospitals. With the confirmation of Intensive Care Medicine as a Level II speciality by the secretary of state of the development of formal training in intensive care has become even more imperative. The EAICG is dedicated to ensuring that intensive care training in the Eastern area region is best able to equip trainees to work in this rapidly expanding and developing speciality. The chairman of the EAICG is Ken Burchett, Intensive Care Director at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King's Lynn.
