Instructions for registrar’s presentations

  • Applications to make a presentation for the Prize should be made in writing or by email to Ken Burchett a minimum of three weeks before the meeting. The application should include a tentative title and a short abstract description of the presentation.

  • Presentations will be oral and should last a maximum of 10 minutes. There will then be a five-minute period for questions from the audience.

  • Visual aids should be used, and may include overheads, slides or computer projected presentations.

    • If you plan to use computer projection you are advised to request this from the organisers as soon as possible in order to ensure that the equipment will be available.
Furthermore you are responsible for ensuring that you can use the equipment that is provided and the organisers take no responsibility if the computer equipment does not function as expected.
You are therefore strongly recommended to bring slide or overhead backup.

  • Presentations will usually be judged by an external assessor to maintain independence. They will be assessed on:
    • presentation
    • use of visual aids
    • content

  • Presentations may consist of research findings, case presentations, literature reviews or other matters within the scope of intensive care medicine. However presentation of unpublished research findings is encouraged.

  • There is a small financial reward for the winning presentation.
